Are you spending a little too much time with your screen lately? You know the feeling — hours pass, your eyes are fried, and that creative project you’ve been meaning to start is still sitting untouched. Maybe you caught the last season of The White Lotus and thought, “Okay wait… that no-phone thing actually looks kind of amazing.”
Let me introduce you to the original digital detox: Booth Cottages. Nestled right on the bay in Brewster, Cape Cod, this rustic cottage colony has no WiFi and no TVs — and we’re not interested in adding any.
Built in the 1940s, Booth Cottages was designed for simpler pleasures: riding bikes, wading through the flats at low tide, playing board games, reading on the porch, or cooking dinner with the screen door open to the sound of Cape Cod radio. And yes — if you know, you know — Cape radio is an absolute vibe. We’re talking NPR in the mornings, Sox games in the evenings, and playlists that drift between “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” and “One of These Nights” by The Eagles. Bangers. Trust me.
If classic rock isn’t your jam, don’t worry — there’s plenty of pop, oldies, and classical stations to fill your unplugged soundtrack.
Why Detox in June? June is the golden window on the Cape — before the full summer crowds, before school lets out, and before peak prices hit. It’s the perfect time to take a breath, ditch the doomscrolling, and just… be. Read the book. Start the painting. Write the thing. Walk the beach with your dog. Watch the tide come in.
We’ve got cottages that sleep 4–8, each one charming, rustic, and nostalgic. It’s the kind of place that reminds you how good it feels to live without a thousand tabs open — literally and figuratively.
So if you're craving a break, we’d love to host you. Come visit us this June and experience a digital detox the old-fashioned way.
Here are some benefits that can last well beyond your stay:
Unplugging for even just a few days can have real, lasting effects. When you trade in screen time for beach walks, book reading, or even just staring out at the bay while sipping coffee, your brain gets to breathe. You might notice…
Mental Clarity & Focus – Time away from the constant buzz of notifications can help improve your ability to concentrate and think clearly. You might even feel more inspired or tap into a new creative spark¹.
Reduced Stress & Anxiety – Without the pressure of always being “on” or reachable, your nervous system has a chance to reset. Many people report feeling calmer and more grounded after even a short break².
Better Sleep – Screen light can mess with your body’s natural rhythms. When you cut it out before bed, you give yourself a better shot at truly restful, restorative sleep³.
Improved Relationships – When you’re not half-distracted by your phone, the people around you get the best version of you. Conversations feel more meaningful, and connections deepen⁴.
Rediscovering Joy – Whether it’s enjoying the sun on a kayak, collecting shells, riding your bike, or jamming to Cape Cod radio, you might remember how fun life can be without scrolling⁵.
Give your brain a break. It’s a mini reset that lingers long after your flip-flops are back in storage. boothcottagesandbeach@gmail.com
